Haneef Ramay dies

LAHORE, Jan 1: Former Punjab chief minister Muhammad Haneef Ramay passed away here on Sunday afternoon. He was 75. Mr Ramay was admitted to a hospital on Nov 28 after he fell in his home and hurt himself.

He was diagnosed with pneumonia, and respiratory, heart and kidney disorders.

After a temporary recovery, his condition worsened on Sunday. He died at 4:15pm from multi-organ failure, his family said.

Also a former Punjab Assembly speaker, Mr Ramay is survived by his wife Sakina, son Ibrahim and daughter Dr Maryam.

Funeral prayers will be held at the main mosque of Defence Housing Society at 2pm on Monday.
