SWABI: An elder, who was instrumental in resolving blood feuds, passed away here on Sunday at 80.
Janas Khan Kaka enjoyed respect among people from all walks of life.
He was also the part of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan’s Khudai Khidmatgar movement.
Jamil Advocate, a friend of the deceased elder, recalled that during the regime of Gen Ayub Khan, he was arrested while participating in a protest and was sent to Sukkur jail. “He was put behind bars on several occasions.”
Jamil Advocate said the elder was so devoted to Kudai Khidmatgar campaign that he sold a large chunk of his property to generate funds for the cause. However, due to differences with some young politicians, whom he had brought to Awami National Party fold, he left the party and joined Pakistan Peoples Party. Later, he joined Qaumi Watan Party.
However, a few years ago he had rejoined ANP.
The elder left behind a widow, a son and three daughters to mourn his death.
The deceased was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Maneri Payyan area.
TWO KILLED: A man was killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a dumper in front of the Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed tomb on Sunday.
The deceased motorcyclist was identified as Hayat Nawab, 28, a resident of Naranji village. A Rescue 1122 team shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.
Separately, a man was killed after being hit by a speeding motorcycle on Swabi-Jhanda Road. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Haris, belonging to Jhanda village.
Meanwhile, three people were seriously injured when two motorcycles collided on Jhanda Road on Sunday. A Rescue 1122 team provided first aid to the injured and shifted them to Bacha Khan Medical Complex Hospital.
The injured were identified a Noor Rehman, 40, Shah Fahad, 24, and Mohammad Khairaz, 36.
