KARACHI: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested two men, said to be drug dealers, for their alleged involvement in the murder of three young brothers.

The three brothers — Saad Muhammad, 32, Khayal Muhammad, 30, and Nazar Muhammad, 27 — were shot dead along the Lyari river within the remit of the Gabol Town police station on Saturday night. An FIR regarding their murder was registered against unknown persons on Sunday.

“District Central police have solved the murder case of the three brothers by arresting Ghulam Mustafa alias Qari and Ghulam Nabi alias Pasori,” claimed a police spokesperson in a statement.

The arrested suspects along with their accomplices shot dead the three brothers.

“The murder of the three brothers appeared to be an outcome of a scuffle with drug dealers,” the statement said, adding: “One of the slain brothers was himself a drug dealer.”

During an initial probe, the held suspects revealed that they had a dispute with one of the brothers over distribution of money generated through drug trafficking.

“The held suspects were professional drug dealers and they were arrested with technical help,” the statement added.

The suspected killers also lived in the same Machhar Colony near Sohrab Goth where the victims also resided.

The police claimed to have recovered arms from their custody.

They said that the main suspects had also been identified and raids were being conducted to arrest them.

A case was registered under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of victims’ uncle Ali Muhammad against unknown persons.
