KARACHI: A fast-moving route W-11 minibus hit a teenaged motorcyclist and ran him over in a New Karachi locality on Wednesday.

Police and rescue services said that Jamil Ahmed, 18, was riding a motorbike when the minibus route knocked him down near Khamiso Goth within the remit of the New Karachi Industrial Area police station.

Area people rushed to the scene and tried to save the boy’s life but in vain.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for completion of medico-legal formalities.

The driver of the minibus also managed to escape leaving behind his vehicle.

The incident sparked anger and some of the area people set the minibus on fire.

This is the second incident in which enraged people torched a bus. Only on Tuesday, a passenger coach was set on fire after it hit and ran over a couple in Saudabad.
