KARACHI: The Customs Enforcement Karachi on Friday claimed to have recovered different brands of smuggled cell phones worth Rs36 million.

Customs official Ali Raza Turabi told Dawn that acting on a tip-off a bus was intercepted at Moachko and during a search a number of smuggled cell phones were seized.

He said that the value of seized items was estimated to be Rs36m. He said that the bus had been impounded.

Mr Turabi said that the customs had launched a crackdown against smuggling of cloth, cigarettes, mobile phones, gutka and banned medicines.
