HARIPUR: The district administration has decided to prepare a feasibility plan for the replication of Swat’s solid waste management system in Haripur.

The decision was made during a meeting held here with deputy commissioner Mohammad Fawad in the chair here on Friday.

The representatives of the Sub-National Governance programme briefed participants about the project.

They said the SNG programme was funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office, United Kingdom, and the ‘End-to-End Service Delivery Pilot Project’ was launched under it in Swat’s Bahrain and Babuzai tehsils.

The SNG team said under the pilot project, the planning process and governance structure of solid waste management were assessed and after weak links were indentified, solutions for improvement were worked out.

It added that the pilot project was initially meant for 100 households but it was later expanded to 4,000 households. They said the solutions showed good results.

The SNG team offered assistance to the Haripur administration for replicating the model in the Haripur TMA’s limits.
