KARACHI: A judicial magistrate on Saturday sent Dania Shah, widow of late media personality and politician Aamir Liaquat Hussain, to prison on judicial remand in a case pertaining to leaking his indecent video on social media.

She was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Lodhran on Thursday.

On Saturday, investigating officer Arfa Saeed produced her before Judicial Magistrate (East) Sheikh Abbas Mehdi and requested the court to grant her physical remand in FIA’s custody for questioning.

Denying the allegations, Ms Shah submitted before the court that she was being framed in the case for the sake of property of her late husband.

The court rejected the IO’s plea and remanded her in judicial custody till Dec 19. However, it allowed the IO to interrogate her inside prison in the presence of a jail official.

Ms Shah has been booked and arrested for allegedly recording and posting late politician’s obscene videos on social media with an intention to humiliate him.

Dua Aamir, daughter of late TV anchor, had lodged an FIR against her under Sections 20 (malicious code), 21 (cyberstalking) and 24 (legal recognition of offences committed in relation to information system) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.
