Nature’s finest doctors

This is with reference to the cover article, “Nature’s finest doctors” by Faraz Ahmed (YW, November 12). The article was well-articulated and the information in it was worth reading.

I was surprised to know the beneficial qualities of flowers that we are abundantly available around us. It is rightly said that nature has healing powers, therefore, we must take more benefit from it.

Own your mistakes

This is regarding the story “Own your mistakes” by Rameen Abid (YW , November 26). It was a fantastic story with lessons for everyone to learn.

One of the biggest flaws in people is that they point out others’ mistakes, but they don’t see their own. Hardly anyone recognises their mistakes and then apologises.

The story highlighted this issue very beautifully and I think the first step in having a sincere relationship is to accept your mistakes, regardless of the consequences.

Habits that are bad

This is with reference to the cover article “Habits that are bad” by Benazir Raz (YW, November 26). The topic should be highlighted, because kids are prone to adopting both good and bad habits easily.

It is human nature that we are inclined more towards the bad than the good. So, kids easily pick habits from the people they are living and spending time with. All habits, like spitting, nose picking, biting nails, burping loudly, etc., are often picked up from family and friends.

It is the responsibility of the elders in the family to point out to kids when they are not behaving appropriately, as such habits can have a lasting negative impact on their personality.

I agree with all the points made by Benazir Raz in her article “Habits that are bad,” that we often see kids and adults biting their nails, picking nose, burping loudly, chewing food loudly, swearing, etc., but we take it as a normal thing. Although it looks bad and we feel disgusted, we still ignore it.

Unfortunately, bad habits in kids can stick with them till their adulthood. The writer nicely pointed out that it is difficult to break a habit, but not impossible. All we need is commitment, guidance, patience and discipline.

I think readers should take a close look at their manners and habits, and curb the unpleasant ones.
