LAHORE: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has said no talks will be held with anti-state elements.

Mr Tessori, who is on a visit to Lahore, was talking to the media here on Sunday after visiting Data Darbar (the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajveri).

He said the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder had an issue with the state and that he (Tessori) was standing by the state.

He said Karachi was the city of lights and commercial capital of the country, but it was “under the spell of an evil eye.”

He said financial stability in the country and development of Karachi were interconnected.

He regretted that the largest city of the country that was its financial hub was facing shortage of energy, gas and water, adding the situation could only be improved by improving the national economy.

Answering a question, he said the country needed harmony and consensus and warned that the political parties would lose their existence if seeds of discord were sown instead of agreement.

Responding to a query, he said the PPP should fulfill all the promises it made in writing with the MQM-Pakistan.

He said if the PPP did not honour its pledges, the MQM-P would be free to devise its own future line of action.

The governor said he wanted unity instead of differences in different ‘factions’ of the MQM in the larger national interest.

He said that he had met with Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman and Chief Minister Parvez Elahi and would revisit Lahore after two weeks to sit together with them and think how to take the country forward.

He said the Punjab’s provincial capital was a beautiful city and he had an emotional attachment with the city.
