KARACHI: The city administration directed the deputy commissioners of seven Karachi districts to establish five centres each in their respective districts — total 35 centres across the metropolis — for provision of flour at subsidised rate of Rs65 per kg in the city.

Official sources said that the decision was taken by Commissioner Iqbal Memon at a meeting held to review the provincial government’s measures to improve the supply of subsidised flour.

They said that all deputy commissioners, officers of provincial food department and representatives of the Flour Mills Owners Association participated in the meeting.

The commissioner directed the DCs to ensure better and easier supply of flour at official rates to the citizens.

The meeting was told that the food department had made arrangements to supply subsidised flour at Rs65 per kg in the city.

It was also informed that 4,200 tonnes of flour would be available in the city.

In district Keamari, the subsidised flour centre will be set up at Rasheedabad Chowk, Shershah Chowk, KMC Ground near Tawheed Masjid and at the main gate of DC Keamari.

In district South, it will be available at Aram Bagh Park, Bin Qasim Park, Eidgah Ground, Hazara Market Saddar, Bakhtawar Park Lyari and Garden.
