RAWALPINDI, Jan 4: The Selection Board of Pakistan Army has approved promotion of 29 officers from Brigadier to Major General. A meeting of the board was held here at the GHQ on Wednesday with Chief of the Army Staff General Pervez Musharraf in the chair.

Out of approximately 804 officers who got commission in the Army between 1976 and 1977, only 3.6 per cent have been recommended for promotion to the rank of Major General.

The officers approved for promotion are: Brigadier Tariq Khan, Brigadier Rashad Javeed, Brigadier Ashraf Tabbassum, Brigadier Abdul Quadir Khan Shahid, Brigadier Taufiq Rafiq, Brigadier Tariq Mahmood, Brigadier Munawar Ahmad Solehria, Brigadier Shahid Maqbool, Brigadier Muhammad Farooq, Brigadier Raheel Sharif, Brigadier Azhar Ali Shah, Brigadier Agha Muhammad Umer Farooq, Brigadier Javed Sultan Khan, Brigadier Muhammad Zahirul Islam, Brigadier Salim Nawaz, Brigadier Mumtaz Ahmad Bajwa, Brigadier Khalid Rabbani, Brigadier Muhammad Ijaz Hussain Awan, Brigadier Waqar Ahmed Kingravi, Brigadier Syed Taqi Naseer Rizvi, Brigadier Muhammad Ali Khan, Brigadier Anwar Saeed, Brigadier Zawar Hussain Shah, Brigadier Jamshed Riaz, Brigadier Najeeb Tariq, Brigadier Khushnood Javed, Brigadier Naeem Ahmed Khan, Brigadier Shahida Badshah and Brigadier Azhar Rashid.
