CHARSADDA: Dealers have demanded increase in the quota of subsidised wheat flour and stopping what they said political interference in the distribution of the commodity in Charsadda district.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, president of flour dealers association Ayaz Mohammad said that the association had filed a writ petition in the Peshawar High Court, praying that distribution of subsidised flour on political grounds should be stopped.

He said that the government should ensure the supply of subsidised flour to official dealers in the district. He said that supply and sale of subsidised flour to the people continued in the three tehsils, including Charsadda, Tangi and Shabqadar, due to the efforts of the deputy commissioner and the food department,.

Mr Ayaz said that the quota of subsidised flour was insufficient and the situation was aggravated by the political interference in its supply and distribution.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat-i-Islami’s youth wing organised a camp to register protest against the poor quality of subsidised flour being distributed in the district.

Youth wing’s district president Fawad Ahmad Jan, in a statement, said that the quality of government subsidised flour was very poor.
