BAHAWALPUR: Dunyapur Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Rafaqat Ali Qamar handed down death sentence and Rs200,000 fine to a man who had murdered his wife.

According to prosecution, Abdul Majid had strangled his wife Zaitoon over some family dispute in 2021 in the limits of Dunyapur Police Station. After registration of a case, police had arrested him and submitted his challan in the court.

RALLIES: The PTI rallies, led by Naeemuddin Warraich, an aspirant for the party ticket for NA-164 Hasilpur-Khairpur and Muhammad Nawaz Khan Abbasi, an aspirant for PP-245, were taken out against inflation and to press for the demand for election.

A large number of the PTI activists, workers and office-bearers paraded the main roads and chanted slogans against the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government. They stressed that election in the country was needed for its stability.

POLICE OPERATION: South Punjab’s new Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan has expressed determination to continue operations against criminals till their complete elimination from the Katcha areas along the Punjab-Sindh border.

He was presiding over a meeting with Regional Police Officer (RPO) Munir Ahmed Zia and other police officials of Bahawalpur Range on Friday.

According to a press release issued by RPO’s PRO Saqib Ajmal, the South Punjab AIG commended the police personnel deployed in the Katcha areas, saying that the police force discharging its professional duties in the areas of hardened criminals deserved acknowledgement.

Mr Sultan said the construction of Pucca police bunkers in the forward parts of the Katcha areas and police camps would continue to give a befitting reply to the fleeing robbers.

RPO Bahawalpur Munir Ahmed Zia briefed the AIG on anti-criminals operation in the riverine areas of district Rahim Yar Khan.

He informed the AIG police personnel deployed in the Katcha area would never hesitate to wipe out the criminals to protect the life and property of the citizens.
