NORTH WAZIRISTAN: A man and his son were killed and another son suffered injuries when unidentified assailants opened fire on them in Dattakhel tehsil of North Waziristan district here on Friday.

According to an official report, the slain, Sharbat Khan, accompanied by his two sons, was going home in Mama Ziayarat area of Dattakhel when assailants sitting in ambush opened fire on them.

As a result, Sharbat Khan and his son, Noshaid Khan, were killed on the spot, while his other son, Torab Khan, was injured. The attackers escaped the area.

The victims and the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Miramshah. The police registered a case and started investigation.

Meanwhile, North Waziristan district police officer Farhan Khan was wounded in a traffic accident in Esha area on Friday.

Farhan Khan was on a routine patrol during a polio campaign, when his vehicle met an accident near Esha checkpost.

The officer, who was driving the vehicle, was later airlifted to CMH, Bannu for treatment. Published in Dawn, january 7th, 2023
