TAXILA: Development projects worth Rs13.5 billion would be completed in Attock city during the current fiscal year.

This was highlighted by former Punjab minister for Baitul Maal and social welfare Yawar Abbas Bukhari while talking to journalists at the site of installation of the town border station (TBS) in Attock on Monday. PTI focal person Syed Khawar Abbas and other office-bearers were also present on the occasion.

The system would improve gas supply to domestic consumers of thickly populated areas of Attock city especially Awan Shareef, Darul Islam colony, Meharpura, Farooq-i-Azam Colony, Khattak Colony, Hamza Town and its adjacent areas.

He said that a 200-bed maternity and child hospital worth Rs6.5 billion is under construction. He added that a building is under construction to accommodate 150 more beds in District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital. Mr Bukhari said a CT scan machine will be installed in the hospital during the current month while intensive care of heart patients will be enhanced whereas thalassemia and dialysis centres are also under construction.

“There are nine union councils in my constituency while development works worth Rs30 million were done in each union council while development works in some union councils cost more than Rs30 million. Apart from this, separate money is also being spent on two cantonment areas,” he said, addingthat tenders have been issued for execution of different development projects being carried out in union council Akhori with an allocation of Rs5.7 million, development projects worth Rs9.3 million in union council Saarg, development projects worth Rs4.6 million in union council Saarwal, development projects worth Rs25 million in union council Sheenbagh. He added that serving the masses was a mission of the PTI and this would be continued without any discrimination.

Mr Bukhari further said the government will be taking concrete steps to improve lives of the underprivileged segment of society therefore a record amount of funds was allocated by the Punjab government to improve the living standard of people and provide them with missing facilities especially the ones living in rural areas of provincial assembly constituency of Attock.

Talking about development in the education sector, Mr Bukhari said that efforts are being made to upgrade all schools in the district while efforts are being made to construct another boys and girls college in Attock city.

The PML-N is using delaying tactics to hold general elections as it wouldbe the lastnail in their political coffin, he said, adding that due to failure of policies which led to inflation, hoarding of basic commodities, shutting down of industrial units and massive increase in the dollar price, the PML-N’s popularity was going down with each passing day.
