RAHIM YAR KHAN: A two-day art and design exhibition began at the Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) on Thursday to showcase the students’ work produced at the culmination of their semester.

The students of fine arts and textile design displayed more than 120 creative projects that showcased their work in various mediums depicting landscape painting, sketching historical buildings of Pakistan and digital art. The textile projects displayed the contemporary and modern stylisation consisting of various techniques of fabric manipulation, mosaic making, handloom weaving, design development, various fabric printing techniques like tie-and-dye and screen printing, embroidery, hand embellishments etc.

The projects also included 3D sculptures made of stylised metal art using household items such as spoons. The history of art projects stylised various motifs from ancient times and developed contemporary products like apparels and home textiles.

The products designed by the students also exhibited a mélange of modern and traditional textiles for lamps, wire art and wall hangings.

Humanities and Arts Director Samina Sarwat and Registrar Dr Muhammad Sagheer Ahmed inaugurated the expo and said such events prepared students for careers in the fields of art and textile design.

POLICE MEETING: South Punjab Additional Inspector General of Police Sahibzada Shahzad Sultan presided over a meeting of police officers from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan adjacent to the katcha area here on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by regional police officers of Bahawalpur Munir Ahmad Zia Rao, Dera Ghazi Khan’s Syed Khurram Ali, Sukkur’s Javed Ahmed Jaskani and Larkana’s Mazhar Nawaz Sheikh along with south Punjab AIG (Operations) Qazi Ali Raza.

All the participating officers gave detailed briefings regarding the ongoing operations against criminals in the katcha areas of their respective districts.

Addl IGP Sultan said the federal and provincial governments were trying to ensure a peaceful environment for the people of the katcha areas.

The area would be completely cleansed from criminal elements and police continue operations until the end of crime here, he vowed.
