Fire burns youth

BAHAWALNAGAR: A fire broke out in a vegetable market late on Thursday, killing a youth who was sleeping outside a kiosk.

According to Rescue 1122, a fire started early on Friday at a vegetable market on Eidgah Road, quickly engulfing a number of kiosks and shops before reducing them to ashes.

Rescuers were able to put out the fire, and during the course of their work, they discovered a burnt body that was taken to the DHQ Hospital for an autopsy. The origin of the fire was unknown.

However, according to the district police, the deceased was Niaz of Mari Mian.

SUICIDE: In Fort Abbas on Friday, a 53-year-old man was found hanging from a ceiling fan as his home caught fire.

Mukhtar Ahmad of Daigi Mohallah had a disagreement with his family, Rescue 1122 informed Dawn.

Mukhtar allegedly committed suicide on Friday by hanging himself with a rope attached to a ceiling fan after putting his house on fire. The neighbours called Rescue 1122 after noticing smoke coming from the house. Rescuers put out the fire. Mukhtar was also found by rescue personnel hanging with a ceiling fan.

The body was taken to the THQ Hospital for an autopsy, and the case was still under investigation.

In another incident, a college student took her life after consuming poisonous wheat pills in the Madrassa area here.

Ghulam Fatima consumed poisonous pills because of domestic problems.

The police said they were investigating the matter.
