KARACHI: The row over the conduct of the second phase of local elections took a dramatic turn late on Friday night when the rumours of promulgating an ordinance to postpone the polls spread after the senior leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan met Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori.
Sources said the MQM-P team, led by Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui met the governor at his official residence and urged him to address their grievances.
They said Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari also contacted the MQM-P leadership and assured them their concerns would be addressed.
The MQM-P has serious reservations on the delimitations of the constituencies and has demanded the postponement of the polls in Karachi, Hyderabad and Dadu till fresh delimitations.
