RAWALPINDI: A variety musical show was organised to nurture talent in Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC), in which singers from across the province were invited.
RAC Director Waqar Ahmed was the special guest.
Tahir Nayar, Gulab, Asma Lata, Saqleen Musa Khelvi, Amira Mir, Sharafat Baloch, Sagar Khan, Jahangir Khan participated in the programme and received applause from the audience.
In the one-man comedy show, Hamid Babar, Shahid Bhola and Saeed Anwar entertained the crowd. Speaking on the occasion,director of the council Waqar Ahmad said that our culture is our identity and nations that do not have any recognition are forgotten by history.
He said music has a unique place in the culture of the whole country, in which traditions, simplicity and sincere love of the people of Punjab was hidden.“We are lucky that our culture has its own example which is loved all over the world,” he said, adding artists of Punjab have preserved their folk songs, their tunes and unique expressions in a rich way and today’s young generation is also benefitting from this.
Artists are considered messengers of peace around the world, he said, adding in the atmosphere of depression, arrangement of musical nights is much needed.
“There is no shortage of talent among Pakistani artists. Pakistani singers in classical music have performed worldwide,” he said.
