QUETTA: A patrolling team of the fisheries and coastal development department of Balochistan on Monday caught four illegal trawlers fishing in coastal areas of Pasni and Gadani, and arrested the crew.

“We have seized four vessels involved in illegal fishing in Balochistan waters and arrested the crew and a case has been registered against them,” Saifullah Khetran, the Director

General of Fisheries and Coastal Development Department of Balochistan, told Dawn, adding that the four trawlers had been impounded just in 12 hours’ patroling.

He said the people living along the coastline and the fishermen should cooperate with the fisheries department and inform it of the illegal fishing and presence of illegal trawlers coming from Sindh and other areas.
