ISLAMABAD: All offices in Parliament House have been closed for three days after a short circuit in the building on Sunday, prompting Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani to put off the sitting scheduled for Monday (today) till Jan 26.

The meetings of the standing committees have also been cancelled, after the late night development.

According to an NA secretariat statement, some electrical wires were found damaged after spark. All the staffers of the Secretariat have been directed to work from home till Thursday.

There was no loss of life or property, an official statement issued by the Senate secretariat said. Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf took cognisance of the incident and ordered immediate precautionary measures, it said, adding that the whole building would be inspected as a precautionary measure. The secretaries concerned have been directed to take steps to resolve the issue.
