CHARSADDA: Awami National Party provincial president Amil Wali Khan on Monday opened work on Bacha Khan Trust Complex here in connection with the Bacha Khan Week 2023.

ANP central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain, provincial senior vice-president Khushdil Khan Advocate, provincial general secretary Sardar Hussain Babak, party spokesperson Samar Haroon Bilour and others were also present at the ceremony held on the occasion.

Speaking at the event, Aimal Wali, who is also the chief executive officer of Bacha Khan Trust, said it was a matter of honour to establish the complex in the Utmanzai area where Bacha Khan had started his movement 100 years ago.

“Today is a historic day for everyone associated with the movement,” he said, adding construction of Bacha Khan Centre had also been completed in Buner district. He said Bacha Khan Centre would be established in every district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said there was a conspiracy being hatched to push Pakhtun nation into the darkness of ignorance by attacking their educational institutions. He asked why girls’ education was banned in Afghanistan.

Aimil Wali further said Bacha Khan had established Azad madressahs to bring people out of darkness. He said to take his mission forward schools were being run in various districts, where free education was being provided to children.

He said a safe house would be set up for orphans. “We wish to expand the network of Bacha Khan schools in the entire Pakhtun region.

JI PROTEST: Jamaat-i-Islami activists on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the delay in construction of Choti Bridge on the Peshawar-Charsadda Road.

Speaking to protesters, JI local leaders said the bridge was damaged during the floods, but despite passage of several months, the reconstruction work on the bridge couldn’t be started.
