ISLAMABAD: Pakis­tan Air Force (PAF) beat defending champions Wapda 75-73 in a thrilling encounter here of the Inter Departmental Natio­nal Basketball Champio­nship here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Sunday.

By the end of the penultimate quarter, Wapda had 15 points lead, but it was reduced by PAF attackers Umair Jan, Ahmad Jan and Mohammad Mehtab before Prem Shahzad struck twice to take his team across the finish line in the dying moments of the game.

Umair scored 25 points while Ahmad and Mehtab added 10 points

In the second match of the day, Pakistan Army beat POF 104-30 as Mohammad Shahid scored 17 points and Mohammad Shahbaz added 15 for the winners.

In Monday’s semi-finals, Wapda will face Army and PAF will take on Pakistan Ordnance Factories.
