ISLAMABAD: Defending champions Pakistan Army defeated Pakistan Air Force in the Inter-Departmental National Basketball championship final to retain the title here at the Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Displaying impressive performance, Army clinched the title 76-52.

Army, who dominated the proceedings throughout the final, grabbed a solid 13-point lead and by the half time they were 39-26 ahead.

Mohammad Hamza (24 points) and Ammar Tughlab (20) played vital role in Army’s victory.

For Pakistan Air Force, Ahmed Jan and Umair Jan scored 21 and 12 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, Wapda outclassed the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) 68-51 in the third-position match.

Federal Minister for Inter-provincial Coordination Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari witnessed the final as chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Mazari encouraged the players and said the government was trying hard to promote sports activities in the country.
