PESHAWAR: Six militants including two in North Waziristan and four in Charsadda were killed in exchange of fire with security forces and police on Friday. Officials privy to the developments said that intelligence-based operations were being carried out in other districts as well.

They said that two militants were killed in a crossfire between security forces and militants in Esham area of district North Waziristan, adding that arms and ammunition was also recovered from the terrorists.

“During intense exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the killed terrorists,” read a statement issued Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR), the military’s media wing.

Meanwhile, four militants were gunned down in another exchange of fire between police and militants in Nesata area of Charsadda in the jurisdiction of Prang police station late on Thursday night, police said.

DSP circle Sanober Khan accompanied by SHO Joharshed told media persons on Friday that three suspected miscreants opened fire on a police party at Gujarabad area in the jurisdiction of Nesata police station.

He said the police retaliated and as a result all the three accused were killed. They were identified as Abu Bakar alias Umar of Charsadda, Hekmatullah of Nowshera and Habib Nisar of Mardan.

They said the bodies were later shifted to the DHQ Hospital Charsadda where after identification the body of Abu Bakar was handed over to his relatives while the bodies Hekmatullah and Habib Nisar were handed over to TMA for burial, as their relatives didn’t turn up.

In Bannu, police repulsed an attack on a police post in Dareypul area of the districts late on Thursday night, injuring two terrorists.

An official said the terror attack occurred in the limits of Ghoriwala police station. He said around 20 terrorists attacked the post with light and heavy weapons from different directions.

“The policemen deployed there were alert and they responded effectively,” he maintained, claiming that two terrorists were injured when the police returned fire.In another related development, Dera Ismail Khan police and army personnel arrested three suspects during a search operations on Friday and seized weapons and ammunition.

District police spokesman Syed Yaqoob Shah Bukhari told Dawn that joint search operations were conducted in Ramak, Prova, Shah Hussain Sherazi, Khana Maleekhi, Mahrra, Lunda Sharif, Fateh Morr and Muriyali areas.

During the operations, around 400 people were checked while three suspects were arrested. The security forces also seized two M4 guns, five pistols and 130 cartridges while a car was also impounded.
