KARACHI: A charged mob lynched two suspected robbers in a North Karachi area on Saturday evening, police and rescue services said.

SSP-Central Maroof Usman said that two armed robbers snatched valuables from a man near a petrol pump at 4-K Chowrangi. However, some rickshaw drivers, waiting for passengers nearby, witnessed the scene and they managed to overpower the suspects, he said.

He said that a large number of people gathered there, gave them a severe beating and burnt them alive.

A heavy contingent of police reached the scene and took into custody 10 people for their alleged involvement in killing the suspects.

The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The SSP said one pistol, a motorcycle and two snatched cell phones were recovered from them.

He said that the suspects were identified as Nadir Husain and Mohammed Imran. Both of them had past criminal record as they were booked in several cases registered in Korangi and West districts.

SSP Usman said that two separate FIRs pertaining to robbery and murder of the suspects were being registered.
