MANSEHRA: The Oghi police on Thursday arrested a man for sexually assaulting and killing a minor girl.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Oghi, Javed Khan told reporters that suspect Sher Rehman was wanted by the Karachi police for kidnapping, raping and killing a seven-year-old girl in November last year.

He said the arrested man allegedly threw the body in a garbage dump.

“The suspect had gone into hiding after committing the crime,” he said.

The DSP said the arrest was made during a raid in Shadoor area, while the suspect was handed over to the Karachi police for investigation.

He said the accused belonged to Oghi and settled in Muslimabad Landi area of Karachi.

The minor girl’s rape and murder had triggered street protests in Karachi with participants demanding exemplary punishment for the culprit.

Also in the day, the police arrested a man for allegedly killing his brother and dumping his body in the well of a house under construction in the Ogra area last week.

The body of Inayat was recovered on the pointation of the suspect, Mohammad Bilal.
