KOHAT: A policeman was killed when an oil tanker struck him while he was checking vehicles at the Gulshanabad checkpost here the other day, officials said.

They added brakes of the oil tanker failed while coming down from a hilly track.

Body of the constable, namely Jan Akbar, was taken to KDA hospital by a Rescue 1122 team for postmortem.

The police arrested the tanker driver and registered an FIR against him in the Junglekhel police station. The tanker was also impounded.

FAKE CALLER HELD: The police on Friday arrested a man for making fake calls to Rescue 1122 at night-time for a month.

Police said they reached the man, namely Hasnain, after tracking his mobile number. He was made to apologise to the Rescue 1122 staffers.

Meanwhile, a Rescue 1122 official said the service received 145,045 calls in 2022, out of which 99,647 were fake.

He said punishment for making fake calls was six months imprisonment and Rs100,000 fine.
