QUETTA: Three coal miners were killed and four others injured in two coal-mine accidents in Duki and Sharag coal fields on Friday.

Levies officials said that the first incident took place in the Duki area coal mine when the rope of a trolley lifting the coal from the mine broke and crashed on the workers working in the mine. The accident left two mine workers dead on the spot.

“Both the coal miners died on the spot inside the mine,” the Levies officials said, adding that bodies of the coal mine workers were taken out by rescue workers with the help of other coal miners.

The deceased were identified as Akhtar Muhammad Alizai from Afghanistan and Khawaj Muhammad of Qila Saifullah district.

The bodies of the victims were shifted to a local hospital and were later handed over to family members.
