CHARSADDA: The police along with Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan officials on Saturday raided a factory producing spurious drugs, arrested its two owners, besides seizing machinery and fake drugs.

Drug inspector Mohammad Sajid told reporters that the raid was conducted on information about a fake drug factory operating in Mera Uthmanzai area on Ghani Khan Road. He said spurious drugs were supplied to Punjab and Afghanistan.

Mr Sajid said factory owners, namely Mohammad Tariq Khan and Numan, were arrested. He added the raiding team also seized fake medicines of multinational pharmaceutical companies and the machinery used in making the spurious drugs.

He said inspections of medicines shops in the district would be carried out to recover fake medicines The police registered a case against the owners under relevant laws.
