KASUR: The Sarai Mughal police on Tuesday recovered the body of a woman five days after she was strangled by her husband in village Khanzada.

The suspect kept the body hidden in the house for five days, and later he was caught burying the body in the courtyard of the house, and the smell of the corpse alerted the neighbours.

According to the police, Muhammad Arshad and Robina Bibi contracted a love marriage. The couple belonged to Nankana Sahib and started living in different areas. They had been living in Sarai Mughal for some six months in a rented house.

The police said Arshad strangled Robina Bibi to death some five days back but failed to dispose of the body. Finally, he decided to bury the body in the house. He dug up a grave in the courtyard when the neighbours alerted the police.

Police took custody of the suspect from the villagers, lodged a murder case against him and started investigation.
