TOBA TEK SINGH: Jashn-i-Baharan (spring festival) will be held in Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, from March 4 to 11.

Deputy Commissioner Ali Annan Qamar told the heads of government departments and representatives of educational institutions in a meeting that extraordinary programmes would be arranged for the entertainment of citizens.

The activities include Jhoomar dance, handicrafts, art and design exhibition, Gur Mela, lighting on banks of Rakh Branch canal, medical and pharmaceutical camps, handicrafts of special persons, PT show, cultural show, cricket, volleyball, Kabaddi matches, drawings and paintings.

He also met the vice chancellor of the University of Agriculture Prof Dr Iqrar and invited him to organise a Gur Mela on behalf of the university.

SUICIDE: A man allegedly committed suicide on Thursday by suddenly appearing in front of a train a Shorkot Cantonment railway station.

Witnesses said Abdul Rahim (60) jumped before 121 Up Ravi express train bound for Lahore from Shorkot Cantonment as a result he died instantly.

Rahim was a mason and was worried about his financial circumstances due to unavailability of work opportunities.

ROBBERS: Two men, who had died and three others who got injured critically on Wednesday, after their car had collided head-on with a mini-truck at Faisalabad on Satiana Road near Chak 76-GB Adda, turned out to be members of an inter-district robbers gang.

A Faisalabad police spokesperson claimed that a number of illicit weapons and counterfeit number plates of cars were also recovered from their [damaged] car and they were wanted by police in different districts.

He said two of them who died in the accident were identified as Ali Raza of Sargodha and Javed Salim of Faisalabad. He said all the three injured -- Mubeen, Amer and Sajid -- shifted to DHQ hospital are residents of Faisalabad.
