LARKANA: Commissioner Ganhwar Leghari on Thursday ordered compiling data on illegal immigrants, particularly Afghans, in the Larkana division to accelerate the process of their repatriation.

He passed the order while presiding over a meeting of the divisional intelligence committee, attended by deputy commissioners (DCs) of Larkana, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Kashmor-Kandhkot, Jacobabad, Shikarpur — Ms Rabia Siyal, Sleemullah Odho, Munwar Mithani, Muhammed Yousuf Shaikh and others. Some officials participated in the meeting through a video link.

The chair emphasised the need for beefing up security for the Chinese working on different projects in the division and gathering facts about them. The DCs and police officers briefed the meeting about the security in their respective districts.

The commissioner also instructed inching up the vigil on the border of the Larkana division touching the boundaries of other provinces with the object to block the illegal entry of immigrants.

He also called for gathering information regarding the number of Chinese nationals engaged in different projects along with their residential addresses in the division. Ensuring security for the Chinese was the responsibility of the Sindh government.
