QUETTA / GWADAR: Three members of a family and a motorcyclist were killed and three others injured when an oil tanker rammed into an auto-rickshaw and then hit a motorcycle at Quetta-Chaman National Highway near Airport Chowk on Thursday evening.

According to police officials, five members of a family were traveling in an auto-rickshaw on the Western Bypass when an oil tanker coming from the opposite direction crashed into it and then a motorcycle, killing four people.

“Three people travelling in the auto-rickshaw and a motorcyclist were killed in the accident,” the police officials said, adding that three others including a minor girl, suffered injuries.

Police rushed to the area soon after receiving the information of the incident and shifted bodies and the injured to civil hospital.

Those killed in the accident were identified as Muhammad Yousaf, Taj Muhammad, Bibi Razia and six-year-old Maryam while injured were identified as Bibi Siddiqa, Fazal Muhammad and rickshaw driver Nasir Gul.

The police officials said that the accident took place due to breaking of axle of the oil tanker which was carrying smuggled Iran oil to Punjab.

Police have arrested oil tanker driver named Pir Dost.

Woman shot dead

A woman was shot dead on Thursday by unknown armed men in Panjgur while another woman was found dead in her house in Turbat having received a bullet injury.

Levies officials said the armed men opened fire on a car in Syedan Prom area of Panjgur, killing the woman sitting in the car. The man driving the car remained unhurt.

Levies officials shifted the body of the woman to a nearby health facility where she was identified as Gul Jan, wife of Asif Jan.

Another incident was reported in Kalatok area, a locality on the outskirts of Turbat town, where a young woman was found dead in her house having suffered bullet injuries.

Levies officials shifted the body to Turbat district hospital after receiving information about the presence of the body of the woman at the house.
