LAHORE: Favourite bay filly G. One comfortably won the Faiz Ahmad Faiz Cup during the Lahore Winter Meeting comprising seven races here at the Racecourse on Sunday.

G. One was nicely guided to victory in the day’s feature event of 1,200 metres by jockey Aftab Choudhry, who ended the day in a blaze of glory by completing a hat-trick of victories.

Aftab first rode home favourite bay colt Top Secret to claim the Sohna Plate in the fourth race and then riding bay filly Sundari won the Sher Garh Cup run over 200 metres.

Earlier, bay horse Sardar Gee ridden by Haroon Gulzar took the February Cup, the second race, run over 1,000 metres to set the motion for favourites to register victories to be broken only in the seventh and the last race won by a rank outsider.

Midway through the day’s proceedings, race-goers observed one-minute silence in condolence for well-known thoroughbred horse owner Syed Kamal Shah. They offered Fateha for the departed soul.
