KARACHI: Two armed robbers snatched cell phones and valuables from families having dinner at the open area of a restaurant in Rizvia Society in Nazimabad on Sunday night, police said on Monday.

Area SHO Waqar Kaiser told Dawn that the two muggers riding a motorbike arrived at around 10pm outside the eatery in Jahangirabad, Nazimabad, held the families at gunpoint, deprived them of their valuables and rode away.

The SHO said that the robbers snatched seven cell phones. Investigators had obtained CCTV footage from the area and were working on it to arrest the suspects, he added.

Central SSP Maroof Usman said that the area SHO visited the spot, met with the robbery victims and brought them to the police station, but they were reluctant to lodge an FIR.

He said the victims did not share IMEI numbers of their snatched cell phones.
