Ruiz, Greguoli excel at Polo Cup

LAHORE: BN Polo and Master Paints/Newage Polo earned easy victories on the opening day of the second Takmeel Square President of Pakis­tan Polo Cup here at the Jinnah Polo Fields on Tuesday.

In a high-scoring match, a superb five-goal contribution from Juan Maria Tito Ruiz and Hamza Mawaz Khan’s four inspired BN Polo to a 10-6 win over Remounts. Roberto Arias chipped in with one.For Remounts, Manuel Sundblad slammed three goals, Ahmed Zubair Butt made a brace and Imran Shahid struck one.

The winners maintained a two-goal lead till the third chukker before wrapping up the victory in the fourth chukker.

In a completely one-sided match, Juan Cruz Greguoli struck three goals to propel Master Paints/Newage Cables to a 7-1½ win against HN Polo.

Besides Greguoli, the other scorers were Simon Prada (two) and Raja Taimur Nadeem and Farooq Amin Sufi (one each).

Santi Lusa scored the only goal for HN Polo, which had a half-goal handicap advantage.
