BAHAWALPUR: Up to 17 posts have been lying vacant in the regional office of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE), Bahawalpur.
The Bahawalpur ACE region deals with the complaints of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan.
According to ACE Director Ghulam Yaseen Baloch, the shortage of investigation officers caused a backlog of inquiries. This has adversely affected the functioning of the ACE here.
He added that in the three districts, the vacant posts of investigation officers, assistant directors, deputy directors, divisional accountants, and office superintendents affected working conditions.
The office has just two investigative officers, who are each tasked with 800 inquiries in addition to court duties.
He said that this alarming situation required the attention of higher authorities.
WALK: The Social Welfare Department organised a walk to raise awareness against drug abuse.
The walk, led by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zaheer Anwar Jappa, was participated by a large number of doctors and paramedics of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital.
The DC stressed the need for creating neighbourhood-level committees to raise awareness among the masses against drug abuse.
