KHYBER: Khyber Mine Owners Association (KMOA) has demanded of the authorities to lift ban on purchase of explosives for mining purpose.

Addressing a news conference at Bara Press Club on Sunday, KMOA president Asghar Khan Afridi said that explosives on a controlled basis were denied to them despite completion of paperwork for acquisition for different types of mines on lease.

He said that local miners had decided to explore various types of natural resources at different locations within limited resources but the ban on explosives was badly hampering the mining process.

He said that KMOA held a series of parleys with the relevant authorities during the last two years for lifting of ban on provision of explosives and abiding by standard operating procedures, but to no avail.

He demanded of Peshawar corps commander, IG FC North and commandant Tirah and Bara Rifles to look into the matter and resolve the issue.

Abdul Aziz died on the spot while the unidentified killers, who were riding a motorcycle, managed to escape.

IGP: Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan said here the other day that full promotion opportunities would be provided to police in all the merged districts as their service structure was under process at the provincial level.

Addressing a police darbar during his first visit to Shahkas Police Training Centre in Jamrud, he said he being the provincial head was under obligation to protect legitimate rights of Khyber police.
