PESHAWAR: The excise, taxation and narcotics control department has arrested three persons and recovered more than two kilograms of ice drug from their possession.

Officials said that the department arrested two persons in Jamil Chowk area of the provincial capital and recovered 510 grams ice from their car. They said that the drugs were being transported to other districts and the areas adjacent to the provincial capital.

They said that another vehicle was intercepted at Haji Camp bus stop on main GT Road and recovered 1.6 kilograms of ice form it.

They said that a resident of Lahore was arrested for carrying the drugs.

Officials said that the three arrested persons were shifted to Excise police station. They said that the arrested persons were charged under relevant sections of law.

Meanwhile, according to a statement, issued from office of the caretaker minister for excise taxation and narcotics control department, Manzoor Afridi, awareness campaigns would be launched to sensitise people and root out the menace of drugs.
