HARIPUR: Another teenage girl committed suicide in mysterious circumstances in Hattar area of Haripur, the police said on Wednesday.

Hattar police quoted Liaqat Ali of Mohallah Bhatiyan Hattar as saying he was in his bedroom when he heard a gunshot from the bedroom of his daughter, 19, at around 9pm on Tuesday. He said when the family rushed to her room they found her bleeding from her chest and a 30-bore pistol lying near her. He said the girl was taken to the trauma centre, where the doctors pronounced her dead.

The reason behind the suicide couldn’t be known, the police said.

The police said autopsy report of the girl was awaited.

On Feb 23, an 18-year-old girl had reportedly ended her life by consuming some poisonous substance, the police said, adding the family had not registered an FIR of the incident due to unknown reasons, and had also not allowed autopsy of the body.

Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday, district police officer Umar Khan Gandapur said on January 21 some people entered the house of Anas Khan of Mohallah Amin Abad, abducted him and shifted him to a house in Dheri Sikandarpur area.

He said Anas’s family had charged Raja Ata Mohammad and his two unknown accomplices in the FIR with abduction. He said the accused had snatched mobile phones, cash and harassed the family members of Anas.

He said on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Dheri Sikandarpur on Feb 28 and arrested Ata Mohammad and recovered Anas from his captivity.
