LAHORE: Leaders of the PPP central Punjab as well as of the People’s Lawyers Forum and Progressive Lawyers Alliance called on PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Bilawal House here on Thursday.
The party chairman arrived in Lahore to discuss the emerging political scenario after the Supreme Court verdict on holding Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa general elections within 90 days of the dissolution of the two provincial assemblies.
Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies had been dissolved on the advice of their respective chief ministers on Jan 14 and 18, respectively.
The local party leadership also briefed the chairman, who is supposed to stay in Lahore for a couple of days, about the preparations for the proposed elections as potential PPP candidates have started their campaigns in their respective constituencies.
Meanwhile, a virtual meeting of the central Punjab PPP chapter was also held under the chair of Faryal Talpur.
Ms Talpur directed all divisional presidents to submit lists of suitable party candidates for the elections next week and immediately seek applications from the aspirants for grant of party tickets.
She said no election alliance would be made with any political party in Punjab therefore only strong candidates should be fielded for the polls.
