SAHIWAL, Jan 13: The district police claimed to have recovered during the past 10 weeks booty worth Rs18 million. The recovery includes cars and motorcycles, cattle and weapons in quantity. District Police Officer Syed Javed Husain Shah told a press conference that since his take-over as the local police chief, the Sahiwal police had arrested two dacoits, Muhammad Yasin and Muhammad Saleem, who escaped from the Toba Tek Singh city lock-up.

He said kidnap-cum-murder of a Chichawatni-based trader’s son Abdullah, blind murder of army officer Amjad and his wife, Fauzia, at Chak 73/5-L and murder of a tractor-trolley driver cases have been solved.

He said the police had captured 114 members of 25 gangs of dacoits and registered 172 cases of theft. As many as 636 proclaimed offenders and 213 courts absconders also had been arrested.
