SAHIWAL: A bridegroom was critically injured while fixing a rifle at his wedding at village Bhawani Noor Shah.

The marriage ceremony of Dr Nisar Saghla, a medical officer at the Sahiwal Medical College, was happening in the village. Many of his friends and family members started firing into the air to celebrate the marriage. A bullet got stuck in the rifle and Dr. Saghla tried to fix it when the weapon went off, leaving him injured. Dr Saghla was immediately shifted to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital where he had a surgery. His condition is out of danger.

KITE SELLERS: Police launched an operation against kite sellers in the city. Police seized 2,200 kites, chemical twines, 43 twine rolls and arrested five persons, including a woman.

Ghala Mandi police raided a shop, owned by Ahmed, in Serki Bazaar, recovered 2,000 kites and arrested the shop owner. The police also arrested Muhammad Hussain and Faiq from Mohalla Noor Park and Nasrullah from Pakpattan Chowk for having chemical twine and kites.

The Harappa police raided the house of Asia Bibi and found 200 kites there. The police booked Asia Bibi under the same act.

DEAD BODY: The body of a 22 years old man was found in distributary near Chak 153/9-L.

The youth was identified as Umer. Kameer police are searching for his family. According to the police, the body was two days old and there were no torture marks on it. Police sent the body for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
