GWADAR: One soldier was martyred and eight others were injured in an attack on security forces in the Nalent area of Gwadar district on Sunday.

According to officials, an improvised explosive device (IED) was planted to target a convoy of security forces at a bridge linking Gwadar with Turbat. The IED was detonated with remote control when two vehicles of security forces were crossing the bridge, badly damaging one of the vehicles.

The injured security personnel were shifted to Indus Hospital, officials at the facility said, adding that one of the injured, identified as Lance Naik Allah Ditta, succumbed to his injuries as he received multiple wounds.

The injured include Subedar Khalid, Hawaldar Latif, Lance Naik Allah, Sepoy Usman, Sepoy Qaiser Abbas, Sepoy Ramzan and Abbas. The officials said security forces have launched a search operation in the area.
