KARACHI: Mr. Qasim E. Noorani, Printer of Urdu Daily ‘Jasarat’, was arrested from his office at Haroon House yesterday [March5]. Mr Noorani is the keeper of the Pakistan Herald Press where ‘Jasarat’ is printed. Syed Zakir Ali, Publisher of ‘Jasarat’ was picked up earlier in the morning while its Editor, Mr Salahuddin, was arrested on Sunday [March 4] night. Police came to pick up Mr Noorani at 10 a.m. but produced no warrant of arrest. When pressed to show the warrant, the Police Officer said no warrant was necessary for arresting anyone under the Defence of Pakistan Rules. … Mr Noorani was then taken away to the Civil Lines Police Station. … They have been arrested for publishing an editorial entitled ‘Akbar Khan Ki Rukhsati’ on Feb 26 in ‘Jasarat’.—Staff Reporter
