KOHAT: A sub-divisional officer of the Military Engineering Services (MES) was gunned down outside a mosque in the posh KDA Township here on Monday, the police said.

They said the deceased, Inamullah Khattak, had come to his home in Kohat on leave from Quetta. They said his body was shifted to the KDA Teaching Hospital for postmortem, and then handed over to relatives for burial.

Shaista Begum, wife of the victim, nominated two persons, namely Hazratullah Khattak and Shadman Khattak, in the FIR, but did not mention the reason behind the murder, the police said.

The police have also launched a search operation to trace the alleged killers.

Meanwhile, miscreants hurled a grenade at a filling station on the Rawalpindi Road here on Monday, the police said, adding the station was owned by former MPA and PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa secretary information Amjid Afridi.

The explosion caused panic and fear among the staff and the people. However, no loss of property or life was caused. An FIR has been registered.
