KARACHI: An angry mob lynched a suspected robber after he shot at and wounded two brothers over resistance in Buffer Zone on Monday evening, police said.
Central SSP Maroof Usman said that two armed robbers tried to loot passers-by near an eatery in Sector-15-B. As they put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on them causing bullet injuries to Abdul Qadir, 37 and Mazhar Ali, 35.
However, area people rushed to the scene and managed to overpower one of the suspects and subjected him to a severe beating. Someone in the mob also fired at him causing his death.
The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Meanwhile, a suspected robber was shot dead and another arrested in an alleged encounter in Orangi Town on Monday.
A Rangers spokesperson said that four suspects snatched over Rs1.7 million from the owner of a cooking oil agency. Both Rangers and police chased the fleeing suspects and in an exchange of gunfire one of them was killed.
Three pistols and snatched Rs1,795,000 were recovered from their custody.
Meanwhile, two men, identified as Naik Muhammad, 65, and Sain Bux, 25, were shot dead in as many incidents in the city.
