LAHORE: PPP central Punjab leader Rana Farooq Saeed has said the party will contest the forthcoming Punjab Assembly election with arrow as its election symbol.
He was speaking at a press conference along with party leaders Faisal Mir, Ahmad Jawad, Ghulam Fareed Kathia, Mian Ayub and Azhar Hasan after a meeting of the Punjab Executive Committee here on Tuesday.
On the occasion, PML-N Youth Wing leader Seth Abbas announced joining the PPP.
Mr Farooq claimed they had so far received applications from 300 potential candidates for the provincial assembly, as there were more than six candidates in many constituencies.
The last date for the receipt of applications has been extended to March 12.
He complained that the federal government had given Rs50 million as development funds to each of its National Assembly candidates, while the PPP nominees had been ignored in this respect.
He said party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would contest the general election for the National Assembly from a Punjab seat too.
