LAHORE: Master Paints/Newage Cables and Diamond Paints won high-scoring matches on the opening day of the Century Ventures National Open Polo Championship for Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club on Tuesday.

Every match of this event comprises five chukkers instead of regular four.

Simon Prado’s superb eight goals stole the show as Master Paints/Newage Cables carved out a 10-8 victory over Master Paints in the first match.

Besides Prado, Juan Cruz Greguol scored the remaining two for the winners.

For Master Paints, Manuel Crespo cracked a quartet, Agha Musa Ali Khan made a brace while Pelagio Balazaldi and Sufi Mohammad Haroon struck one each.

Meanwhile, three goals each by Mir Huzaifa Ahmad and Chulo Corti helped Diamond Paints beat Remounts 9-6.

Ahmed Ali Tiwana scored a brace while Nico Roberts struck one for the winners.

For Remounts, Manuel Sundblad smashed five goals and Ahmed Zubair Butt scored one.—
